3 St. Louis County, 1 Carlton County residents die from COVID-19

Four other Northland residents have died of COVID-19 and its complications since Saturday.

Three of these people lived in St. Louis County. One person was in their early 50s. The others were in their early 70s and 80s. Since the beginning of the pandemic, the district has lost 208 residents to the disease.

The Minnesota Department of Health reported another death in Carlton County, bringing the COVID-19 death toll in 38 to 38. The person was in his early 60s.

In the 10-county region of Northland, an additional 145 people tested positive for COVID-19, according to the states of Minnesota and Wisconsin.

New cases reported in Northland counties on Saturday:

  • Aitkin – 7.
  • Carlton – 15th
  • Chef – 0.
  • Itasca – 8.
  • Koochiching – 4.
  • Lake – 8.
  • St. Louis – 87.
  • Ashland – 2nd
  • Bayfield – 0.
  • Douglas – 14.

The Minnesota Department of Health did not update its data on Friday for the New Year. The COVID-19 numbers that Minnesota reported on Saturday were analyzed on Thursday. The data for Sunday includes deaths and new cases two days or more to make up for the holiday.

The Wisconsin Department of Health’s COVID-19 data has been updated as usual.

Minnesota reported a total of 2,543 new cases and 54 more deaths on Saturday. Wisconsin reported 1,078 cases and 1 new death.
