American and United Add Flights out of St. Louis
Boston is a very popular travel destination for Missouri people. At least that’s an assumption I’m making since both Jet Blue and American Airlines have announced a new service between Missouri and Boston.
Jet Blue yesterday announced a non-stop service from Kansas City International to Boston and New York City, while American Airlines announced that they will be offering two daily flights from St. Louis Lambert International Airport to Boston starting November 2nd.
One of the American flights is aimed at business travelers arriving in Boston shortly after 11:00 a.m. EST and a return flight to St. Louis that doesn’t depart until 7:00 p.m. EST.
“We are very pleased that American Airlines wants to add this service,” said Rhonda Hamm-Niebruegge, STL director, in a press release. “The flight schedule American Airlines is offering twice a day with this additional Boston market is beneficial for both leisure and business travelers as they plan to visit Massachusetts and the surrounding area. We are delighted that American Airlines is recognizing the strength of our region with this new service. “
American offers flights from St. Louis at 7:30 am and 3:00 pm, with flights to St. Louis from Boston arriving at 2:05 pm and 9:35 pm CST. American Airlines will operate the Airbus 319 flights, which receive mixed reviews from passengers on Seat Guru. The main complaint people have is legroom and comfort on the plane.
Last month, United announced that they would be commencing seasonal flights to Myrtle Beach and Hilton Head South Carolina. United flies to Myrtle Beach on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday and to Hilton Head on Monday, Thursday and Saturday. The United to Hilton Head service is unique in that they fly into Hilton Head Island Airport, as opposed to Savanna, 45 minutes away. United will be offering the service from May 27th to September 6th.
