Andrew St. Louis, 37, who lived in Saranac Lake, passed away unexpectedly in Buffalo on Monday, March 29, 2021.
He was born on July 4, 1983 in Lake Placid. He attended Lake Placid Elementary School and Lake Placid Middle High School. After graduating, he attended SUNY Canton.
At the time of his death, Andrew was the assistant superintendent of Craig Wood Golf Course. Before Craig Wood, Andrew worked for Hulbert’s Supply.
Andrew loved fishing, golf, baseball, and hockey. The Yankees, Bruins, and Raiders were his favorite teams. Andrew’s love for the game of hockey began when he was 5 years old. His squirt, pee-wee and midget teams each reached the state finals. Andrew played for the Lake Placid Blue Bomber high school team for four years. One of the years he helped promote the team to the last four in New York State. After graduation, he continued his hockey career at SUNY Canton and then played for the Jr. B Islanders in Ganaoque, Ontario, Canada. Andrew also played golf, baseball, and soccer at school.
Andrew’s love of hockey grew even more when he started coaching his son Carson at the age of 5. He trained him as Mini Mites, Mites, Splashes and Pee Wee during his years. Over the years he coached Saranac Lake Mites, the Sara-Placid Squirts, the ’08 ADK 46ers, and the ’08 St. Lawrence Steel teams. This year’s 2008 St. Lawrence Steel Pee Wee team has made it to the New York State Finals, which will be held in April. Last year’s team also advanced to the states but couldn’t attend due to COVID. He also coached baseball at Lake Placid High School for four years and youth baseball at Saranac Lake.
Andrew is survived by the love of his life, Shelly, and his two children Carson and Lexi. He is also survived by his parents, Shari and Marty St. Louis and brother Matt (Lauren), and nephews and nieces Olivia and Jaxson. Other special people in his life were Shelly’s parents Theresa and Al Daunais, as well as his uncle Michael St. Louis (Sharon), his aunt Laura Peryea (Larry) and aunt Karen Preston (Terry). He leaves behind cousins Ryan, Michael, Patrick, Jennifer, Tyler, Jessica and Kaylee.
