Audio surfaces of suspended East St. Louis coach | Latest Headlines
Audio has emerged from Tony Young, the banned basketball coach for the East St. Louis High Boys, at halftime in a game played against Alton on January 13 and Madison Prep after a game on January 12.
Young, also the track and field director of East St. Louis, was put on paid administrative leave by the school district this week. District spokesman Kim Roberson declined to provide information on the reason for Young’s suspension when asked on Wednesday.
East St. Louis, the No. 3 major school in the STLhighschoolsports.com rankings, was 13-5 and 8-0 overall in the Southwestern Conference, which played at home against Belleville East on Friday.
Young from Schaumburg, Illinois played for Southern Illinois Carbondale from 2002 to 2006. After his senior season at Carbondale, he was a Missouri Valley Conference first-team selection and a defensive All-American.
