ST LOUIS, MO (WSAU) – Brett Anderson threw five strong innings and dispersed five hits. Manny Pina turned around on a 3-4 day day, including a solo home run on the 9th, to help the Brewers take a 9-3 win in St. Louis on Sunday.
Outside of Pina’s breakout, the offense was even for the crew as no other batsman recorded more than one hit. Travis Shaw shot a home run with two runs in the second, Avisail Garcia in the first home run with two runs.
Lorenzo Cain picked up a double and a walk from the starting site.
Anderson took the win, his first of the season. Four reliefs, including UWSP graduate JP Feyereisen, covered the last four innings and together allowed three hits and two earned runs.
Austin Dean led the Cardinals with two hits, including a double with two RBIs in the sixth.
Christian Yelich and Travis Shaw both left the game prematurely. Yelich has a backache and Shaw fouled a ball off his shin. Both are listed as daily.
The win puts Milwaukee 5-4 in the season and ends a 4-2 six-game road trip against NL Central opponents. They will return home on Monday to continue the division game against the Chicago Cubs. The first place for the game on Monday is 6:40 p.m. Reporting before the game starts at 6:05 p.m. on the WSAU.
American Family Field will continue to have reduced capacity and spaced seating restrictions. But it will be the first game in two years where the famous tailgates can be seen in the parking lots around the stadium before the game.
