Growing Concern Over The Number Of Shootings Happening On St. Louis Interstates
April 16, 2021
Speeding is one of the major issues on the St. Louis Metro freeways, which can lead to aggressive driving and other incidents. Now concerns about freeway shootings are growing. News 4 learns about the recent shootings that killed a woman on Wednesday on I-70 near the Madison exit north of downtown. Friends and family identify the victim as Tasha Cole, a mother also known as “Lala”. “It’s so devastating. I’m sorry that happened,” said Paulette Parks, who drives frequently on I-70. “It’s very sad, very sad. Very terrifying.” News4 has reported at least eight shootings in the past year on Interstate 70, located just 4.5 miles from Union Boulevard to north of downtown. Highway crime is an issue on the subway. St. Louis County Police said they responded to 16 firearm attacks on I-70, I-64, and I-44 in 2020.
