How St. Louis Food Bank is meeting the rising needs of families this holiday season

ST. LOUIS – Thanksgiving is fast approaching and the St. Louis Area Food Bank is helping families bring meals to their tables.

The St. Louis Area Food Bank hosts their annual Thanksgiving Together food distribution event, and while many may not attend this Thanksgiving Day, the need is now greater than ever.

More than 2,000 families drive through the grocery bank’s 10 distribution locations in Missouri and Illinois.

The food banks in the St. Louis area are trying to fill the void for many who are unemployed or just need a little extra help, especially due to COVID-19.

“We served 3.1 million meals a month before the pandemic, but we’ve been serving well over 5 million meals a month since the pandemic,” said Meredith Knopp, president of the St. Louis Area Food Bank.

Ameren hopes to help them in their mission by pooling all donations from Thanksgiving. To donate, send ‘FOOD4ALL’ to 76278 or visit STLFoodBank.org/food4all. Ameren will raise these donations up to $ 100,000 by December 6th.
