Hungry Planet® Donates 10,000 Pounds of Plant-Based Meats to Two St. Louis Nonprofits | Community

On holidays like Memorial Day, July 4th and Labor Day, START’s free potlucks cater for up to 50 guests. START delivers the main course, which always contains vegetable meat. Volunteers always eat for free and no one is ever turned away if they can’t buy a donation ticket. The team also hopes to prepare food to aid local animal rescuers making sure no pet is ever left out in the cold.

Hungry Planet®, Inc. makes chef-made, plant-based meat that is a delicious and easy switch for conventional meat. The company, headquartered in St. Louis, MO, has set itself the task of combining traditional meat textures and tastes with healthy plant-based ingredients and making them accessible to everyone. Known in the vegetable meat category for their variety and excellent nutrition, they develop meat to please the discerning tastes of meat lovers and chefs. With a full range of natural-flavored proteins, the meat can be used in any kitchen without compromise, using fewer resources from planet to plate while being superior to consumers and the environment. Their meat is filled with protein and fiber, and contains fewer calories and less fat (unsaturated) than traditional and other plant-based meats. Founder siblings Todd and Jody Boyman founded Hungry Planet® because they recognized that our planet, while abundant, is not unlimited. While food is the most basic human requirement, we owe it to ourselves and our community to eat more sustainably. The company is hungry to make our food system healthier, more sustainable and fairer.
