CLAYTON, MO – Le Meridien St. Louis Clayton announced the name and concept of its restaurant – Café la Vie.

Café la Vie offers dishes with European classics and St. Louis flavors in a “warm and inviting environment”.

In the morning, the room will be a breakfast café with a coffee bar, which will be run by a “barista master” from 6:00 to 11:00

According to a press release, it will switch throughout the day, offering shareable plates and craft cocktails in the evening. The evening menu includes cook-controlled salads, starters and a burger.

The restaurant also offers the “Sparkling Program” – a nightly ritual with more than six foam drinks from wines to cocktails – from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

There is also a selection of dessert cocktails and a changing selection of gelatos. Lunch and weekend brunch can be added once the coronavirus pandemic has subsided, the press release said.

In the meantime, the restaurant offers guests the option of viewing the menu on their phone, ordering and making contactless payments.

“For the design, guests can expect warm wood against modern accents from the central bar of the restaurant with Italian tiles, contemporary mid-century decor and Paris-inspired laylight in the center of the room,” the hotel said in the press release.

The hotel also announced Cafe la Vie’s head chef – St. Louis-born Michael Frank. As head chef, Frank will oversee the restaurant and the menus.

Frank will focus on reinterpreting old-school dishes in a “fun and delicious way”, the press release says.

“I’ve worked in kitchens across the country, from Denali National Park in Alaska to Santa Fe, and I’m excited to showcase my culinary experiences here in my hometown of St. Louis. As we ramp up next year, Café la Vie will give travelers a taste of our amazing food scene in St. Louis and also be a place for the community, ”he said.

Café la Vie opens this fall with a limited menu and cocktail menu with breakfast and dinner service. The hotel is currently booking guests for stays in October as well as for socially distant meetings.
