After weeks of sending too many vaccine doses to rural Missouri towns that had no chance of using them all, Governor Mike Parson finally made up his mind to send some life-saving doses to the city of St. Louis.

The “Mega Vaccination Event” will take place on March 25th and 26th on the St. Louis Community College campus in Forest Park (5600 Oakland Avenue). Mayor Lyda Krewson says the event will distribute “up to 3,000 doses of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine per day (single shot)”.

This large-scale event is hosted in conjunction with the Missouri National Guard and the Missouri Department of Public Safety. Krewson says they will work with the city health department to “use the state’s existing vaccine navigator to identify eligible Missourians in activated stages who have previously registered and are waiting to be vaccinated.”

With that announcement, Governor Mike Parson also announced five more vaccination events in the St. Louis area, also scheduled for later this month.
