Northland tallies 130 new COVID-19 cases, half in St. Louis County

Minnesota and Wisconsin health officials reported 130 new COVID-19 cases and no new deaths for Northland on Saturday.

Saturday’s report marks the latest cases in the region since early January, when the daily case count for the 10-county region fell below three-digit numbers after the fall in the fall.

Half of the new cases on Saturday affected St. Louis County residents.

Minnesota reported four deaths from COVID-19 and its complications on Saturday, while Wisconsin reported one. None of these people lived in Northland.

  • Koochiching – 5; 5.4.
  • Lake – 0; 1.
  • St. Louis – 65; 39.3.
  • Ashland – 1; 1.3.
  • Bayfield – 3; 1.4.
  • Douglas – 11; 5.7.

Another 3,832 people in northeast Minnesota have received their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine. This is the fourth highest daily vaccination growth in the seven-county region. Almost 118,000 people in the region received at least one dose, which is 36% of the population.

Ashland, Bayfield and Douglas counties, Wisconsin, recorded a combined 217 new vaccinations on Saturday.
