Shooting investigation underway at north St. Louis County motel

BRIDGETON, MO. – Bridgeton Police are investigating a shootout involving someone who lived in a motel in northern St. Louis County.

The officers responded to the Red Roof Inn at 3470 Hollenberg Drive at around 9:50 am for a report of a shooting. They arrived to find a victim who was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, said Major Mark Mossotti of the Bridgeton Police Department. The police had no information about the victim’s condition.

Major Mossotti said it was unclear whether the shooting took place inside or outside the motel. A 5 On Your Side photojournalist at the crime scene saw a police tape encircling part of the motel’s rooms and several officers focused on the second level of the building. Police have confirmed that the shooting is linked to a person in one of the rooms.
