St. Louis County to auction off land next week
Following the success of last year’s online forfeited land auctions and continued need for COVID-19 precautions, St. Louis County’s first forfeited land sale will be fully online in 2021.
More than 60 properties can now be offered on publicsurplus.com until 11 February at 11 a.m., according to a press release this week.
The list includes several lakefront properties (some accessible only by water), a home in Ely, recreational areas, and investment properties across the county.
A catalog with photos, maps and details of each property, including the starting bid price, is available at stlouiscountymn.gov/landsales. by calling the Land and Minerals Department at 218-726-2606; or at numerous gas stations, grocery stores, and other businesses across the county.
To be eligible, bidders cannot collect delinquent property taxes on properties they already own in St. Louis County. People with delinquent property taxes must first pay what they owe before buying at auction.
The sale is the first of three auctions to offer new properties in 2021. Further sales will take place in June and October.
