ST. LOUIS – A St. Louis restaurant was named one of the best new restaurants in 2020 by GQ Magazine.
GQ’s Brett Martin visited 23 cities and 93 restaurants prior to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Indo, a modern Asian restaurant, opened in the Botanical Heights neighborhood of St. Louis in the summer of 2019.
Martin wrote that Indo is “the best kind of fusion created by a Midwestern prodigy”.
Chef and owner Nick Bognar grew up in his family’s restaurants. Indo is a high point in his career as a chef, showing his talents in Japanese, Thai, and Southeast Asian cuisines in his hometown of St. Louis.
“The 28-year-old Bognar clearly has a talent for taste and a precocious reluctance that he cultivates as the head chef of his mother’s high-end sushi restaurant – even if Indo, which is widely used in Southeast Asian and Japanese flavors, likes this as Drain valve should be intended for his more creative impulses, ”wrote Martin.
He boasted of Indo’s attitude towards “Laarb”.
“A large lamb tartar quenelle pushed to the side of the plate was purple with chilli oil and quite pulsating with pops and crackles of pine nuts, roasted shallots, and herbs – a dish of different parts with almost electric intensity when they all came together “, he wrote.
Indo will be open to traffic again on Thursday from 3 p.m.
A spokesman said the new opening times are from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday through Sunday.
