St. Louis food: Mango Peruvian Cuisine closing
Washington Avenue restaurant will close on December 19th
ST. LOUIS – A popular Washington Avenue restaurant announced that it will close its doors in late December.
The Peruvian Mango Kitchen will finally close on December 19th after 16 years of business.
“We are sad to have finally closed our doors, but very grateful for everything we have achieved in the last 16 years. We were hugged with open arms and proudly introduced the Peruvian cuisine to the community we love so much” said the Calvo family wrote in part on Facebook.
The restaurant thanked its employees and business partners by mail.
“We’d like to express our gratitude to our dedicated, hard-working people. Over the years we’ve met and worked with so many great people who shared our vision and gave every ounce to help us make something special for ours.” Reaching community Without you, we would have made it impossible and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your commitment. “
The restaurant said it will focus on the memories rather than finding bugs for the closure.
“We want it to be clear that we are not blaming anyone except perhaps an unprecedented health crisis and the relentless press of a clock ticking. We might exhaust ourselves finding mistakes, but instead we focus on the memories that last forever will be in our hearts, and the privilege of having served and worked with so many great people. “
Hundreds of people commented on the restaurant’s contribution to the closure.
“I’m devastated to read this! My family loves Mango and even has our annual Christmas dinner there! You will be missed very much! Thank you for the wonderful food and memories you have given us over the years,” wrote Laurel Fox.
“So sad to see you go. I had so many memories of dates there … yeah, sure was my” go to “point. I’ll be there before you close,” wrote Jason Boone.
