St. Louis news: Teen shot to death in south St. Louis

ST. LOUIS – An investigation is ongoing after a 17-year-old was shot and killed in the Dutchtown neighborhood of St. Louis on Friday afternoon.

According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, officers reacted to the 3900 block on Minnesota Avenue around 4:05 p.m. He was found unconscious and not breathing. Police said murder detectives are investigating.

Family members identified the victim as 17-year-old Paris Lee. He was a junior at Roosevelt High School.

As of January 15, there had been 11 murders in the city of St. Louis.

In 2020, the city had 262 murders, which was a record number. The record number is 267, which was in 1993.

There were 194 murders in 2019.
