St. Louis restaurant openings, closings, and coming soons: March 2021

The following list is correct at the time of going to press in late March.

Either way, March was a great month on the local dining scene. Two of the most extravagant and elaborate restaurants of the year opened their doors (Casa Don Alfonso and Tony’s / Anthony’s Bar, relocated from downtown to Clayton), along with the first highly regarded chain outpost in Missouri (Uncle Julio’s). All three made SLM’s “10 Most Awaited Restaurants” list for 2021. Reopenings included 9 Mile Garden, Bogart’s Smokehouse, Head’s Store and the Steak ‘n Shake in Arnold, the latter under a new self-service model. The only closure was the official closure of the 13 year old Tigin Irish Pub on Wash Ave. downtown, which hasn’t poured Guinness since March last year.
