St. Louis wide receiver receives Illini offer
The majority of Illinois soccer coaches are new, but that doesn’t stop them from still recruiting the St. Louis area.
The previous regimen for the Illinois did well to recruit St. Louis. This is one of the few things that they did well in the recruiting game. Luckily we still have ties to the region so this could pay off later. One of the latest offers from Illinois went to St. Louis-born Ryan Wingo.
Wingo is a 6-foot-2, 198 pound wide recipient from St. Louis University High School and lives in St. Louis, Missouri. He has not yet been rated or classified as he is from the class of 2024 and 247Sports has not yet published this ranking. But let’s face it, this kid is going to be one of the best recruits in the country.

Wingo already has around six scholarship offers for a child who is only starting their second year of school. Including the Illinois, the larger programs that Wingo offer include Arkansas, Ole Miss, and Iowa State, among others. He’ll have everyone in the country behind him for the next year or so.
What Would Wingo Bring to the Illinois Football Program?
I would like to point out Wingo’s size. He’s about to be in his sophomore year, and he’s already standing at 6-foot-2,198-pounds. I can imagine he could grow an inch or two by the last year of his life. He will literally be a big target for any programs that bring him in.
Speed is the next thing that really sets Wingo apart. He can fly around the field and beat a defender with ease. If it already has tremendous speed, it will only continue to improve on its great speed in the next three years.
I also love Wingo’s great hands. He can go up and get the ball at the highest point, or he can go down and get the ball in the dirt. Wingo reminds me of a player like DK Metcalf. This is the type of player he could develop into in the future.
It’s wise for Illinois to get into Wingo early. It looks like Cory Patterson is the senior recruiter. Hopefully we can make some progress and build a solid relationship. I believe Wingo will be in the top 200 in 2024.
