The RNC embraced Mark and Patricia McCloskey, the St. Louis couple who brandished guns when Black Lives Matter protesters marched near their house

The McCloskeys sat on a tufted, chocolate-colored sofa, hands crossed on their laps, against the backdrop of glowing, carved paneling. One of her lawyers had previously compared her to “rugged individualists” from “heartland America” and said that during a period of white escape in St. Louis, they made careers representing the vulnerable and legitimately defending their property had an angry mob. Their criminal defense attorney, Joel J. Schwartz, said the McCloskeys, whose first court appearance is scheduled for August 31, were unavailable Tuesday to comment on their appearance at Congress.
