Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis’ food drive will help up to 5,000 families

ST. LOUIS – The Metropolitan St. Louis Urban League has provided emergency relief to more than 100,000 families in the area.

Food insecurity and the ongoing impact on families are still a real problem even after a year. The Urban League is hosting another Food Drive on Saturday, April 24th.

Metropolitan St. Louis Urban League President and CEO Michael McMillan talks about the Food Drive and how the organization plans to honor the National Guard.

The Urban League’s Roy E. Gillespie Emergency Aid Distribution will be held from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm on the St. Louis Community College’s Florissant Valley campus.

This is the 31st edition of the Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis. They will give up to 5,000 families the necessities they need. That’s worth about $ 250,000 in donations.

“We are very confident that we can all live as prepandemic again by the end of the year,” said McMillan.

This is the last major event the organization will hold in a different location over the weekend. McMillan said future events will be held at Urban League locations.
