Victim found dead inside car in East St. Louis

EAST ST. LOUIS, Illinois – Illinois State Police are investigating a death in East St. Louis. A handful of ISP investigators spent several hours near the state and 23rd Street searching the area and taking photos of a dark vehicle with the passenger door open.

Local police told a photojournalist from 5 On Your Side that a person was found dead in the vehicle. Officers would not tell how the person died.

ISP investigators placed an evidence marker on the floor near the passenger door and measured the distance between the car and the curb.

A hearse arrived at around 5 a.m. and the body was removed from the vehicle about an hour later. At 6:30 a.m. the car was towed away and the scene cleared by the police.
