Winter Weather Closes Arlington ISD & Others, Fort Worth School District Switches To All Virtual – CBS Dallas / Fort Worth

NORTH TEXAS (CBSDFW.COM) – A winter mix, including sleet, falls over parts of northern Texas, creating potentially treacherous commuting and affecting several of the largest school districts in the metroplex.

There are no classes in the Arlington Independent School District for students studying virtually or in person. Officials tweeted early Thursday morning that all schools would be closed on February 11 due to bad weather.

All Arlington ISD schools will be closed on Thursday February 11th due to inclement weather. There will be no face-to-face or virtual courses. All district offices are also closed. Please check your parents’ emails or for updates.

Mansfield ISD made the same decision as Arlington: all offices were closed and in-person and virtual classes and all after-school activities were canceled on February 11th.

The closure means an extended “vacation” in Mansfield, as the academic calendar planned for the district to be closed to students and teachers on Friday February 12th and Monday February 15th.

After monitoring weather conditions all night, administrators of Burleson ISD announced on Twitter early Thursday that all schools would be closed. Cancellation occurs in offices, schools, virtual learning and on-campus learning.

Same decision as in the Garland Independent School District. The bad weather closure means all students, regardless of virtual or personal study options, and staff will have a snow day on Thursday.

District campuses will be closed and no face-to-face learning will take place. However, the lessons follow the schedule of the regular school day. This is not a “snow day”.

While the Fort Worth Independent School District is not taking a snow day, administrators announced late Wednesday evening that all instructions would be given remotely on Thursday. The administrators said they made the decision based on the extremely cold, falling winter mix and unsafe driving conditions.
